Let's Get Wired… In A Good Way
I don’t remember much of school science. Bunsen burners, Boyle’s Law… my mind boggled. Learning to wire a plug, however, seemed like a useful life skill. If only they’d also told us that we were electrical beings.
We’ve all heard someone say “I’m feeling wired” at some point in our lives. Usually after 6 double espressos and a study all-nighter. It’s not usually a positive feeling. Unless you’re an adrenaline junkie. Even if you love the feeling, however, burnout is inevitable. And hands up if you’re a mother who has collapsed in a heap after a kids’ birthday party full of wired little sugar-junkies.
The irony is that “wired” is the opposite of what these individuals are. They are, in fact, short-circuiting and misfiring.
And the easiest way to remedy this is repairing and reconnecting our own Earth “wire”.
As children we are told we are heads, shoulders, knees and toes… At some point we’re introduced to the skin and bones. At another stage, usually when we’re very confused teens, we are told we are hormones and chemicals. But we’re not really told that we are walking talking energy fields.
Call it Source, call it Primary Energy, call it Qi or Life Force… call it whatever resonates with you. This energy is the essence of our vitality. And for that to flow optimally we need to be earthed.
Our health hinges on being energetically stable and when we touch the ground barefoot, a beautiful energy exchange occurs that may be invisible to the human eye, but is doing miracle work without us even knowing.
BENEFITS Of Grounding
The Earth absorb electrons enter the body and stabilise the electrical activity of all our cells, neutralising free radicals.
Connecting to the earth shifts the body’s autonomic system from fight or flight to rest and repair mode. Today, when our body’s keep being pulled into panic mode, it is vital that we can find ways to return to a relaxed, healing state.
Breathing becomes calmer.
Mood improves and children in schools have been found to behave and concentrate better when they have grass as opposed to rubber playgrounds.
Grounding has been shows to improve sleep.
Earthing has also been shown to reduced inflammation, and with that reduce in any pain
Free The Feet
Sorry to anyone who is in love with the sneakers movement. The rubber-soled way of living that kicked in post World War II has meant that for much of our lives we have been walking around insulated from the very energy field of our prime care provider. Now, I’m not saying walk barefoot through the London Underground or walk into your next meeting with nothing but a nice pedicure (and clothes, of course), but whenever you can, give yourself an opportunity to free your feet and reconnect with the earth.
