The story Behind The Daily Ground

At the end of 2019, I was driving back from school with my children, feeling the drag of the daily grind, and the heat on the road was tangible. Not just atmospheric heat, but emotional heat. People were bumper to bumper, a supersized something was zigzagging between everyone trying to be the winner home, wherever home was, and I was observing. Anyone who knows me knows that I’ve been that road rage, many times. So for me to now be in that place of observing was immense. And I said to my girls… “What if we are climate change? What if we need to change our inner climates?”

While my thoughts were an oversimplification of way more complex universal laws, I woke up the next day with this vision of every person on the planet beginning their day with this understanding that in balancing their inner ecosystem they could indeed change, not just their experience of it all, but the energy of the planet entirely.

Start With a Cuppa Calm

The idea behind “The Daily Ground” was that people would start their days with a grounding exercise that resonates with them and then, if possible, incorporate various grounding rituals as the day goes on. I will be deeply honest, when I originally introduced it, it didn’t receive the interest I hoped it would. Someone actually said to me, “People are too busy.” I am, however, being called by clients and friends to do it again. In these times where many people are feeling unsettled, disconnected and feel the tension of being pulled away from their truth in various ways, earthing and grounding is deeply needed.

While I would love to see the world doing it 365, I’m going to suggest 40 days, which I believe is a number of transformation. They say it takes 21 days to change a habit, but being a birth educator and postpartum professional, I believe 40 is a number of awakening (40 weeks in a pregnancy, the first 40 days postpartum are a cultural magic number). When you turn 21 you think: “Hey, I’ve got the world at my feet!” When you turn 40, however, you think: “Holy shift.” Forty is birth (of whatever that may be for you) and this is when you’ll feel the impact of your work.

Fear not, I am not going to be bombarding you with a new activity every day! This is not boot camp, this is life. Every few days I will share something that you can then integrate for a few days. Choose what you love.

This is not a prescriptive step-by-step, but more a toolbox of resources that you can come to when you need it. As my clients know, I’m not here to wire anyone for health or birth, I’m here to guide you as you discover how to reconnect yourself. That, I believe is sustainable living. Earthed and tuned in to your highest self.

All Emotions Welcome

As the world goes through immense shifts right now, each one of us is essentially experiencing a birth. Everyone I know is experiencing it differently. Anxiety, guilt, fear, anger, depression, grief… ALL of these emotions are coming up for our own healing and awakening. And grounding is the first step in working through short circuits, diffusing ticking bombs, transmuting pain and restoring balance. So, these resources are for anyone who needs them. Please share them with anyone you know who feel could use them (husbands, partners…) and let’s bring about a climate of healing change.
